A24 has officially dropped the first teaser trailer for Highest 2 Lowest, and it’s already sending shockwaves through cinephile circles. A gritty, pulsating reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic High and Low, the modern-day crime thriller reimagines class, morality, and power — all set to the chaotic heartbeat of New York City.
Directed by Spike Lee, marking his fifth collaboration with Denzel Washington, Highest 2 Lowest stars Washington as a legendary music mogul known for having “the best ears in the business.” But when his life hits a wrong note — with a child’s kidnapping and a ransom demand meant for his son — he’s thrust into a moral crisis that tests his empire, his ethics, and his soul.
